Ruston - RK215
Introduced in 1991 the Ruston RK215 diesel engine is a turbocharged ,medium speed engine with a stroke of 275mm and a bore of 215mm. Ruston adopted advanced engine design with the RK215, incorporating an under-slung crankshaft, a common rail fuel gallery and L’orange unit injectors.
The compact design and high power – weight ratio, has proven extremely popular within the rail industry, with locomotive manufacturers such as Alstom, who used both 12 cylinder and 16 cylinder RK215T engines, for diesel /electric locomotives to Iran, Syria, and Sri-Lanka and Malaysian railways.
